In my mind there are three main types of bloggers in the world. The first being a person who wants a simple web page to keep an online diary or personal journal. The second being a business person needing an online presence whose not technical nor wanting to spend a lot of money to design a custom site. And the third and most popular being those looking to try and make money online. My guess is the majority of eBlog Templates readers belong to group number three.

Many of us always talk about our niche blog and from what I can see, bloggers and internet marketers always talk about how Google’s spider crawl their site based in their niche. But what is local niche?

This is a continuation of the videos that i will keep making about local niches. In this one I wanted to start addressing some basic fundamentals that you need to be able to get local advertiser. At the same time I felt you need to understand that a local niche blog provides you many tax advantages that a traditional niche or bans site does not provide.

When I first began my journey towards blogging for money, I was guilty of the “one trick pony” mentality and was only using Google AdSense.

As I began to learn more about monetizing a website, I quickly realized the need to diversify the tools being used to generate income with my blogs.

Today I added a new tool to this site in an attempt to test another means of monetizing my blog. The best part is that this new tool is very unobtrusive - which can be both good and bad - and is super easy to get setup on your own blog.

As an SEO experiment, I started tagging (in addition to the categories at left) my blog posts about, I don’t know, 15 months ago. It’s impossible to measure precisely, but I don’t think it’s had a significant effect. Last month tag-based pages only got 823 page views, and a mere 123 visitors came from Technorati. There may be unknown ancillary SEO benefits to tagging, but now I just enjoy inventing peculiar descriptors for my posts (see, for example, .

Keep in mind that this only reflects, maybe, one-eighth of all the posts on this site. There’s no frickin’ way I’m going back and manually tagging the other 4000-odd posts.

6. Find what Works Best for Your Blog - a regular comment on posts where I write about the power of using social media is people saying that they’ve ‘tried it’ and it doesn’t work. When I unpack these comments with people I often find that what they mean is that they tried one social media site once or twice - and it didn’t have much impact. The mistakes with this kind of thinking are numerous (ie it takes time to get to know a social media site, get to know people etc) - but one main thing that I’d say is that not all social media sites work for every topic of blog.

For example I find that StumbleUpon works really well here at ProBlogger - but that Digg works on some more technically focused sites that I have worked with. The other thing that I’d say is that sometimes the biggest social sites are not always the best ones to use - but rather smaller and more focused ones can have bigger benefits. Every week new social bookmarking sites appear around different niches - search them out and focus on them too.

As everyone already knows, video is HOT right now… and as more people are pouring money and ad dollars into it, it will only get HOTTER. If you are not in video, you will miss out on the next big revenue stream. Producing quality video is not that hard, Jim Kural has been preaching this for over a year now and will start producing his own daily show using the FlipVideo camera, which only costs around $189.

You do not need to focus on spending a lot of money for a high quality camera or a production studio, you just need to offer quality content. Take a look at some of the Top All-Time Viewed Videos on YouTube, before the recording artists got in, almost all of them were fun amateur videos… and everyone loved them!
